Option A: Podcast Client Software (or Podcast Catchers)
In order to get the most from podcasting we suggest you download and use a "podcast catcher" that takes full advantage of the background downloading, management and inventorying of your podcasts.
Using one of these programs requires it's downloading and installation to your computer. This is normally an easy process for the average computer user.
Option B: Using Apple iTunes
Apple Computer's iTunes music player is the most widely used media player in the United States. Its features include built-in podcast support and an excellent free podcast library. To use iTunes, simply click on one of the five "channel" links on the right side menu of this page. If you have iTunes installed, it will open and you will be taken to the SoundPractice channel of your choice. If you do not have iTunes installed, you can download it here.
Option C: Playing the Podcast Directly from SoundPractice with our Streaming Players
Play Button: Perhaps the most convenient way to listen to our podcasts is by visiting the Podcast Library page. All podcasts are listed by category with titles, descriptions, length, download button and a play button. Simply click the play button for the podcast you wish to hear.
Streaming Player: Another way to listen to of our Podcasts is to open our Streaming Player. Our player uses a browser plug-in called Macromedia Flash that allows for real time audio streaming from our server. Flash is included in 98% of computer browsers, so it should automatically play. If you are prompted to download Flash in order to listen, we suggest you agree. The streaming player will allow you to scroll through an alphabetized list and select your recording. Playing starts almost immediately on any broadband connection. Make sure your computer speakers are turned on and you may have to adjust the speaker volume.
Option D: MP3 File Directory
You may find it helpful or more convenient to work directly with MP3 audio files from our MP3 Directory. In that case, we provide you with a complete listing, in reverse chronological order.
Clicking directly on the file title will, in most cases, will prompt you to download the file to your computer - download times may be long.
A better approach is to "right mouse click" on the title and copy the "shortcut" or "link target". Then open your computer media player (Windows Media Player, Real Player, Quicktime, etc..) and paste the link into the "paste URL" area. This should allow almost immediate listening.
